Sericulture
Sericulture is an agro based cottage industry consisting of on farm and nonfarm activities. At Present Sericulture is being cultivated in 2770.50 acres in 234 villages of 46 mandals by 1326 farmers in the district. The activity is more predominant in Atmakur, Pamulapadu, Kothapalli, Pathikonda, Dhone, Peapully, Thuggali, Veldurthy , Bethamcherla and Yemmiganur Mandals. The cocoon production ranges from 800 – 900 Mts.with a market value of about Rs. 28.00 crores per annum.
INFRASTRUCTURE :
There are two divisions headed by Asst. Directors of Sericulture with the Headquarters at Atmakur and Peapully under the control of Dy. Director of Sericulture, Kurnool at district level. The following units are functioning for the development of Sericulture in the district.

3.DEVELOPMENT OF MULBERRY BUSH PLANTATION UNDER MG-NREGS:
The scheme is being implemented since the year 2014-15 under which farmers are being assisted for taking up of Mulberry plantation and its maintenance up to 3 years with a unit cost of Rs.1.54 lakhs. Assistance for construction of rearing sheds is also being implemented since 2016-17 onwards.
